Healthy Together Scheme

'Healthy Together' is aimed at enabling parents to support their children's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development at home through doing enjoyable, practical activities either in school or at home. The programme was originally developed by ContinYou. Share in County Durham piloted the materials at Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Horden.

Schools can use Healthy Together as part of the 'Healthy Schools' programme to gain National Healthy Schools' Standard (NHSS).

Healthy Together is great for working in partnership with other organisations; community nurse, fire safety officer, road safety officer or a police liaison officer. All can come in to the group to discuss their field. There are a number of different topics covered by the scheme:

  • Physical health.
  • Healthy eating.
  • Emotional health.
  • Well-being.
  • Healthy attitudes to medicines.
  • Drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
  • Keeping children safe.
  • Health and safety.
  • Health in the community.

More information can be found on the Healthy Together page.
