Learning is Fun - an Evaluation of PACT 1999 - 2002Parents and Children Together (PACT) began when Durham LEA received funding from SRB3 to extend its provision of Family Literacy. The PACT programmes were based on the Basic Skills Agency Model of Family Literacy which research has shown to be successful at raising achievement in schools and raising aspirations of adults involved in the programmes.PACT introduced the use of ICT into family learning and extended partnership working. Education in the Community worked with the Educational Psychology Service, local schools, FE colleges, WEA, Durham University, Health Promotions and Cultural Services. Head teachers, teachers and adult education tutors worked closely together to plan, promote and deliver PACT in several schools and provides both quantitative and qualitative data on 129 pupils and their parents/carers.
