Working With Men

Introduction

In this section you will find local and national information about working with men...

The Children North East Regional Resource Centre for Fatherhood

Children North East Fathers Plus

Through 'Fathers Plus' and other programmes Children North East have been working since 1997 with agencies across early years, education, health, youth offending and other settings to support positive engagement with men.

Fathers Plus runs networks and events, provides services for fathers and men in local programmes and advises on strategy and policy as well as developing resources to support work across the UK.

The online knowledge bank at IncludingMen.com provides a means for professionals developing work in this emerging field to share good practice, identify barriers and opportunities and influence policy.

You can find out more about why there is a need for agencies to work to include men by searching the resources section of this site.

About Children North East

Children North East is one of the oldest Children's Charities in the UK. Founded in 1891, the organisation has developed to provide a range of community based projects supporting children and their families. Children North East is a registered charity no: 22204.1Head Office: 89 Denhill Park, Newcastle upon Tyne NE15 6QE If you work with children, young people and their families then the work you do over the coming years will be changing to fall in line with the Children and Young People's Plans published by your Local Authorities.

We would like you to support us in ensuring that Fathers and Male Carers are included in service provision. To find out more please see the attached documents.

The Children North East Fatherhood Centre is funded by the DfES to capture and disseminate information about work to include fathers and male carers in services.

In partnership with practitioners, managers and other interested parties around the region we have been working to ensure that the inclusion of fathers and male carers is recognised in the Children and Young People's (CYP) plans which lay the foundations for future work over the next three years. We aim to ensure that key actions are put in place to make best use of the fatherhood resources in each area and challenge discrimination in service provision against parents and carers on the basis of gender.

We have attached our recommendations for the draft CYP plans and we are looking for your comments and support for this submission. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this information.
